boots and flip flops
One of my oldies but goodies (I think) đ
So, we were getting ready to go out for a dinner celebration tonight and my husband couldnât find a certain pair of shoes he wanted to wear. Yes, sadly, in this family-the husband owns the most pairs of shoes. I was in the other room getting ready and heard this from my little cowgirlâs mouth:
âReally, if youâre a cowgirl all you need is boots and flip flopsâ.
Yes, my dear, it is that simple. That metaphor could translate into life, into simplicity, into living the life you were meant to live, into some really big philosophical post. And yet, after that big dinner, I just donât have the energy. I think it stands very well on itâs own.

Falling
Love this read from almostafarmgirl!
âOh, Iâve never fallen offâŚâ
She thinks sheâs bragging, but the little girl, or teen, or grown-ass woman (or perhaps man) who utters those words in the horseback riding world has failed to read the room. We are not impressed. In fact, the polite among us are trying not to laugh in her face. She looks with at the other riders with expectation, all of us with muck on our boots, sweat under our helmets and horsehair on our jeans. We, she implies, have fallen, and she has not; therefore, obviously, her skills are greater. We should accept the inevitable conclusion that she is the superior rider.
Itâs almost cute, reallyâŚ
But we know something she doesnât. We know there are only two types of horseback riders: Those who have fallen off, and those who will.
